Smash – Season 1, Episode 3: “Enter Mr. DiMaggio.”
Derek and Ivy get in close with Ivy’s casting. Sleeping with the director, that’s how she got the part! Yet another devilish-y disguised stereotypical role that Hollywood plays.
However, she got the part?! That’s daring. What about Karen (played by Katharine McPhee)? What will happen to her? I guess we’ll see in this episode!
I think Derek Wills is crushing on Karen being a total jerk to her boyfriend. But she does get offered a part on the ensemble.
Enter a totally new character to possibly play Mr. DiMaggio in the Marilyn rendition, Michael Swift who Julia is totally apprehensive about and apparently so is he. But come on how could a rising star not want to play DiMaggio.
Karen goes on a trip to Iowa for her friend’s baby shower as she worries about possibly losing her job since she’ll be missing so many shifts. She goes to the baby shower and sings karaoke, Redneck Woman by Gretchil Wilson? Love that song!
Meanwhile, Tom’s crazy assistant tries to steal Julia’s notebook for all her Marilyn work because he thinks he’s entitled to some money for coming up with the idea of Marilyn. He confronts Julia and makes it seem like he actually found the notebook instead of stealing it. What a twisted little man. So annoying, and no sense for authority.
Jerry bugs the crap out of Eileen and keeps meeting her up at restaurants and she just throws water in his face. Hilarious every time. But Manny another business partner doesn’t want to do any business with Eileen unless Jerry is in on it as well.
Tom gets a date and her friend leaks that Ivy is dating Derek.
So will Eileen get the money to produce the show? Will Ivy and Derek actually last? And how about that confrontation between Ellis and Julia, will she find out what he stole?
