The Voice – Season 2, Episode 4: “Blind Auditions #4.”

It took Adam a little over 45 minutes before he pressed his button on the two-hour show. I don’t believe he was as picky as Christina Aguilera was last week. I think the talent wasn’t there.

Jonathas – “U Got It Bad.”

Brazilian native with two kids and a wife, this is definitely not American Idol. He’s cute. According to Adam Levine he has an “Usher” sound (so why didn’t you turn your chair, Adam?). Cee Lo and Christina turned their chairs. Jonathas listened to “Genie in the Bottle” when he was a kid (bet that made Christina feel old) so he chose Team Aguilera.

Monique Benabou – “Mr. Know It All.”

I’m never impress when only one judge turns their chair. She’s on Team Aguilera.

Charlotte Sometimes – “Apologize.”

She’s the only one in the entire night that all four judges turned their chairs. She has a unique voice, nice smile, but I’m not convinced she has “it.” But in this singing competition she is a step above the rest. (I can get over her last name, cute.) She chose Team Blake.

Tony Vincent – “We Are the Champions.”

He’s been on Broadway and played in bands. To come out and sing a song that’s played in sports games everywhere I think was a poor song choice. He also screamed the song in parts. Not convinced he’s a true rocker. Only one judge turned. He’s on Team Cee Lo.

Anthony Evans – “What’s Going On.”

He’s been performing gospel music for 10 years. Was he able to crossover into the secular arena on The Voice and wow the judges? No. At the last possible moment one chair turned. He’s on Team Aguilera.

Jamie Lono - “Folsom Prison Blues.”

Not often will you hear someone sing their own great rendition of a Johnny Cash song. Adam turned his chair almost instantly. Followed by Cee Lo. Jamie was awestruck and stated, “I make sandwiches for living.” Cee Lo replied, “I eat sandwiches.” That was the funniest line of the night! Team Cee Lo.

Justin Hopkins – “Babylon.”

The delivery for the song wasn’t anything special. How did he get into The Voice auditions. Justin played guitar in the house band for Last Call with Carson Daly. (It’s not what you know but who you know.) Only one chair turned. He’s on Team Cee Lo.

Nicolle Galyon – “You Save Me.”

She’s a country singer who loves to play the piano. HUH? I think somebody forgot to tell her that the guitar is an easier instrument to carry. She was a little nervous and pitchy. Cute blonde. If she calms her nerves she may do well however only one judge turned their chair. Team Levine.

Mathai – “Rumor Has It.”

This one may get far. She’s cute as a button. She knows to work the stage. She didn’t get nervous. And she looks like a star, even Blake said so. All the guys turned their chairs. Christina did not.  I think she made a mistake. Team Levine.

Unaired performances:

  • Ashley De La Rosa – Team Aguilera
  • Jordan Rager – Team Blake
  • Karla Davis – Team Levine
  • ALyX – Team Blake

The two performers to look out for are Charlotte Sometimes and Mathai. Five contestants on The Voice had only one judge turn their chair. This was not a stellar night.

See what happens next week.

Watch The Voice Mondays 8/7c on NBC.
