NCIS – Season 9, Episode 14: “Life Before His Eyes.”

What if one decision you make changes the course of many lives. That’s what Jethro discovered when he was shot at a diner. Right as he was about to pull the trigger he entered into a supernatural world.

People Gibbs knew were there whether living or dead. Mike Franks his late mentor led him on the journey. Jethro saw former NCIS Director Jenny Shepherd, the entire current NCIS team, Ari (Ziva’s brother who killed Kate), the man who killed his family, and so on.

This was a story about closure for the decisions Gibbs made that affected the lives of others.

If Jethro’s wife had not testified against the drug smuggler, his wife and daughter would have lived. A beautiful smile came over his face when he talked with his wife at the diner. He wanted them to live. She told him he was a Marine. Even if she had not testified, he would have died in combat. Gibbs had not considered that scenario.

Had Ari not killed Kate, then Ziva would have stayed with Mossad.

Kate and Tony would have had a child (wrong on so many levels). Abby and McGee would have been a couple (wrong on lesser levels).

Franks explained to Gibbs that people do the wrong things for the right reasons. You have to accept the consequences. You have to live with the decisions you make.

Parallel storyline a man made some bad decisions. When he tried to right them, two people died. His son shot Gibbs at the diner. Once Gibbs had closure with all the events that had gone on in his life, he chose not to shoot the boy.

Back at NCIS another call for the team to investigate. Gibbs took one good look back at the office before he entered the elevator. He had closure. Life was good.

We love you Gibbs, Tony, Ziva, McGee, Abby, Ducky, and Palmer!

Watch NCIS on Tuesdays at 8/7c on CBS.
