Smash Season 1 Episode 1 : “Pilot”
As Katharine McPhee stars as the ‘doe eyed’ star to be, Debra Messing and Christian Borle star as the creators of the musical Julia and Tom this show fails to meet standards.
If you’ve watched Christina Aguilera’s last year’ s hit Burlesque then you won’t be missing out on much.
McPhee stars as Karen, an actress in New York wanting to badly to get her big break with her public office working hunky British accented boyfriend.
If not for her boyfriend I don’t think she’d be living so well, especially in New York as a waitress?
Come on.
That seriously takes up half of the population in New York and Los Angeles.
Everyone is trying to win the dream and not everyone gets it.
The musical is based on this entire group of directors, dance choreographers who are trying to put together a rendition of Marilyn Monroe’s life into musical.
What a great theme but how are they going to ‘rendition’ her killing herself?
I think that might be an episode I might be willing to sit through again.
All in all I think Smash was mediocre. It’s a play on just another same merry go round story.
Girl goes to New York, discovers fame.
Now what does she do? Maybe have relations with her dance instructor and cheat on her boyfriend?
Not sure, but I love that Debra Messing is in this one, Will and Grace had a wonderful run!
Has anyone noticed that Anjelica Huston kind of looks like an older version of the new singer Jesse James?
Just an observation.
Anyways, if you’re into the whole musical Glee but more for adults and centered around one girl who’s trying to be famous go for Smash.
If you’re looking for something that will make your mind wonder, this definitely isn’t the show.
