Community – Season 3, Episode 10: “Regional Holiday Music”
Did I accidentally watch Glee instead of Community? Actually, this episode was a fun pun at Glee and did have its moments. Greendale’s Glee club (fingernails on chalkboard sound) sang in the cafeteria. Devious Jeff tipped off ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) that the Glee club used copyrighted material without permission.
Oopsy daisy.
Death to the Glee club, or was it? The choir director (almost as devious as Jeff) recruited the entire study group one by one. First Abed joined. Gullible Abed wanted the study group to stay together during the holidays. Troy was next. Placed him in a rap video with sexy-girl dancers, he was now a Glee member.
The others in the study group horrified that Abed and Troy had joined Glee, tried to stop the madness. Pierce however pulled into the 70s rock music. He joined Abed and Troy.
Now how did the choir director get little-innocent Shirley in the show? Simple, get a small choir of children together and she’s in church. That left Jeff, Annie and Britta.
Annie donned sexy Mrs. Santa clause costume and sang around Jeff. You’re either turned on, laughing or both (if that’s possible). Choir director managed to yule-hog-tie the entire study group in the end.
Once the study group was ready to perform, it’s then that Abed discovered the choir director’s plan. They were to sing at regional’s, semi-regional’s, super-regional’s (yes, poking fun at “Glee”) and so on. To prevent any chance to advance, Abed convinced Britta to sing a solo.
Oh, no.
Britta’s part was to play a tree, a non-singing role. Study group in spirit of Christmas agreed Britta should sing. Choir director non the wiser. Britta sang. Oh, oh, oh, my! The newly manipulated Glendale’s Glee club didn’t make it past the one song.
In the end, Abed spent Christmas alone in his apartment. Not for long. His friends came to be with him. Aw. Happy holidays and happy New Year, Abed, Troy, Pierce, Annie, Shirley, Britta and Jeff!
