“The X Factor” – Season 1, Episode 26, Live Season Finale Part 1 & 2
In the finale’s last hoorah, the contestants sang a duet with a famous singer plus an individual song. First up, Josh Krajcik and right at the gates he came off pitchy and off-key. Song “Uninvited” by Alanis Morissette. How did this bear-man make it to the finale? Alanis appeared after the first phrase and I felt sorry for her. She looked good, sang well, but oh, that duet a mixed-nut mess.
Chris Rene was next. He sung Avril Lavine’s “Complicated.” From bad to worse in 60 seconds–how did this Santa Cruzian make the finale? Was he singing or did I just hear a mouse on the microphone? Avril, still with her forever-young-teenager-face got into her song. The duet however, fork in my eye awful.
Finally Melaine Amaro ended the duet challenge. She sang, “I believe I can fly” with R. Kelly. The girl has pipes so she held her own with Kelly. Not pitchy, not off-key, but you expected that.
Individual songs as follows:
Josh sang, “At Last.” I am so glad he’s at last off the freakin’ stage. He looked like a poster child for grunge. Usually contestants improve their image. He’s stayed a bear-man throughout the series.
Chris sang, “Young Homies.” I’m sorry, you always sing through your nose, not you mouth. Also, you can’t hold a candle to the best rapper of the series Astro. Chris you just embarrassed yourself.
Melanie sang, “Listen.” Of course, she sang a ballad. Of course, she was on key. Of course, she sounded like the next Whitney Houston.
Winner was Melanie, a stretch I know. Bear-man Josh in second. Santa Cruzian Chris in third.
The show was predictable from the get-go. When Simon didn’t pick Melanie in his top four acts, ah hah! Marketing campaign initiated to get Melanie on everyone’s radar. The other three judges appalled Melanie not in the field of contestants. Simon said, “I made a mistake.”
When have you ever seen Simon make a MISTAKE when it comes to spotting talent? Exactly! Simon had five contestants; rest of the judges had four. Spotlight on Melanie from the beginning, middle and end of the series.
The X Factor predictable, over produced, under talented and lack luster entertainment. My question, “When does American Idol start?”
