2 Broke Girls – Season 1, Episode 12: “And the Pop-Up Sale”
How you do light the pilot light on a stove? According to the world of Max, you open the broiler door to the oven. Light a match. Throw the flaming mini-torch towards the oven and duck!
It was fun to watch Max and Caroline toss-and-duck. They finally got the pilot light lit then immediately checked to see if they still had eyebrows. Fun-ny! Max complained they needed a new stove to kick-start their cup cake business.
Never fear, rich girl is here. Caroline’s private stash of TAT (Thomas Aristotle Thomas) rings, each worth about $2500 would solve their problems. Max didn’t want Caroline to sell her childhood mementos (after all the rich girl lost everything when her dad went to jail).
Caroline insisted. “I’m in it for the long haul,” she said. Max believed her.
Off to the “Get Cash for Gold” store they go, hi-ho, hi-ho, off to buy a new stove they go… Stop with the happiness! When has a pawnshop or gold-for-cash store ever given fair market value for items? Exactly! Bad idea.
Caroline’s next brilliant idea was to return the TAT rings to Barneys (without a receipt). They were so close to sealing the deal until the manager stopped by. He recognized Caroline. Back in the day when Blondie cost him his former job.
Third brilliant Caroline idea, hold a “Pop-up Sale.” This is an illegal, unethical method of selling or buying goods. Max was down with that. Caroline decided to hold the sale inside the girl’s restroom at Barneys. The one place free from security cameras.
Did it work? Caroline ran into air-cheek-kissing former rich friends who invited her to lunch. She ditched Max in a ginger *snap* — so much for the long haul.
Caroline did redeem herself. She sold every TAT ring she owned and bought the purple oven Max fantasized over (we all have dreams, some stranger than others).
With an awkward hug, the odd couple rekindled their friendship. Their cupcake store total still at $621.25.
